Recycle Those Empty Housewarmer Candle Jars

If you're a big fan of the Housewarmer candle there's a good chance you either have a lot of empty jars lying around or you've been throwing out perfectly good ones. Here is an easy craft that will give those jars a new life. Try taking those perfectly good, but boring, glass jars and jazz them up by painting them. You'll need: • glass paint • clear lacquer • a ½ inch paint brush • small paint brushes for detail work • a pencil for drawing designs • newspaper to cover your work area • an empty Housewarmer candle jar First make sure the empty housewarmer candle jar is completely clean and dry. Place the newspaper down on your work surface in case of spills. If you want your jar to have a solid background color give the entire jar a coat of paint and allow the jar to dry thoroughly. From here you can either trace a pattern with your pencil onto your Housewarmer candle jar and paint it in or paint your design freehand. Just be sure to let the paint dry completely between coats. Once you have finished painting your jar you'll need to apply a layer of clear lacquer and allow this to dry. Then place your jar into a cold oven and heat to 250 degrees. After five minutes at this temperature turn the oven off and let the jar cool inside the oven. Your housewarmer candle jar will now have a protective coating against heat and moisture. Use your new creation to store cotton balls, office supplies, or anything else that needs a decorative holder.
